Sarabande was established by the late designer Lee Alexander McQueen, providing support and opportunities for creatively fearless artists and designers of the future. With his generous endowment, Sarabande is able to offer 15 heavily subsidised studios at the HQ on Regent’s Canal in Haggerston, East London.

Sarabande’s studios are a place of community and collaboration where tenants can be free to experiment and meet with those affiliated with the Foundation. More than just a studio space, Sarabande supports the unique vision of it’s artists through access to professional services, meeting rooms, a gallery space, mentoring and peer-to-peer support as well as entry to all of our events such as inspirational & practical talks, life drawing classes and photography workshops in addition to the many partnerships within the Foundation that are extended to studio residents.

Sarabande offers scholarships to creatives studying at Graduate and Postgraduate level. Students are shortlisted by the University for interview by the Sarabande panel, led by an industry professional. To date, these have included Sarabande Patrons Nick Knight OBE, Andrew Bolton and Shaun Leane as well as Sarah Burton OBE, Jake Chapman, Matthew Slotover and Katy England.

After graduation, scholars are also offered a studio space for 12 months in Sarabande HQ to continue their practise and enable and support their developing relationship with industry professionals and are invited to attend educational workshops, drop-ins and discussions held at the foundation.

Please note, Sarabande does not consider applications made directly to the foundation.
