Mircea Teleaga

“My time at Sarabande has been an amazing experience. It is incredible how much vital support I have received during a critical time for me, just after finishing university. The community of artists here is really essential; I have always found myself learning from other artists wherever I was.” 

 

Mircea Teleagã was born in 1989 in Romania. He studied on the on the MFA Painting Course led by Lisa Milroy at Slade School of Fine Art where he was awarded the Sarabande Scholarship, selected by artist Dinos Chapman. After graduating in 2016, Mircea has undertaken a residency at the Academy of Visual Arts in Hong Kong and at Sarabande, in London, where he was in residence for two years, 2016 – 2018. During this time, he held had two solo shows: ‘let it burn’ in 2017 and ‘Presence’ in 2018, curated by William Davie of Gasgosian. To accompany ‘Presence’ Mircea also published his first monograph documenting the show as well as containing three essays by artists Justin Mortimer and Caroline Walker, and from writer and critic Jane Neal. His works can be found in The Kolon Collection in Seoul, South Korea, The Simmons & Simmons Collection in London and The Soho House Collection in Amsterdam. Currently Mircea Teleagã is an Honorary Research Associate in MA/MFA Painting at the Slade School of Fine Art.
