Jonah Pontzer
Jonah Pontzer (b.1989) is an American painter living and working in London. He is a 2012 graduate of Central Saint Martins, and a current studio resident at Sarabande: The Lee Alexander McQueen Foundation. Jonah’s work draws on tension and dialogues between the physicality of paint and representational imagery of digital culture. In particular, the proliferation of pornography in the mainstream, and its cultural impacts. Sourcing imagery from social channels, historical film and media, and physical encounters, Jonah demonstrates his respect for the historical canon of painting through critical engagement with his subject matter and its material rendering.
