Darcey Fleming

Darcey Fleming is a multidisciplinary artist who works across sculpture, photography and performance. The body is usually either present or implied in the work. Traditional techniques and the use of discarded and humble materials are central to Fleming’s practice.

Fleming simultaneously battles with and rejoices in an obsessive need to ‘make’, so much so that her hands, on occasion, have bled from weaving and she is overwhelmed by the colour, intensity and volume of her work. Partly as a reaction to this, she has started to make minimal b&w video stills of herself, these offer a neededrelief from the intensity of her sculptural work.

Fleming has exhibited across London, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2023, where David Remfry stated that Fleming’s work ‘captured the true essence of the show’. Her work has also been featured in numerous publications including: W Magazine, Vogue Portugal, Vogue Scandinavia, on the cover of EXIT magazine, Altered States Magazine, i-D Magazine, the Times and The Telegraph. Alongside her art practice, Fleming has a degree from UCL in Social Sciences, and is currently completing an MSc at London School of Economics which have further fed her practice.
