George's practice is a continual process of ‘making sense of'. Working mainly with wood and metal casting, he distorts and exaggerates the material or form of an object. His access to global symbols of the home and public space is steadfastly personal. By presenting familiar objects altered to distance them from their cultural and personal reference points, George's transformations capture the liminal spaces inhabited by the body through the material objects held in nostalgic muscle memory. His varnished ash wood sculpture ‘A Frame in a Frame in a Frame’ extends and breaks the fourth wall in its dimensionality.
