Arthur used clay sourced from the Thames, plaster, oil paint and metal pigments for this multilayered piece. Through adding and scraping off layers intuitively he reveals a rune-like moon cycle that reacts in sunlight with rich textural relief. Characteristic of Arthur’s practice the painting is rooted in rhythmic abstraction and took 8 months to complete.
