From Shirin’s series ‘A Disobedient Nose’, revolving around ‘a nose that cannot be tamed’. Shirin uses her face as a stage, examining the cultural significance of a nose, with Iran seeing the greatest number of rhinoplasties in the world. In these self-portraits, she explores feminine defiance against the ‘beauty myth’ and society’s biases.
