Electric Avenue is a portrait of a young man who grew up in Brixton, enriched by Hamed Maiye’s overlapping personal connection to the area.

Drawing on his own experiences, Hamed crafts a dreamlike painting that blurs reality and memory. Through an interplay of the seen & unseen, the piece uses layered tones and shadows to delve into the themes of nostalgia, and the subconscious. This approach echoes the techniques of the Surrealists, who created immersive, dreamlike worlds to explore deeper psychological and emotional states.
