Christian Hiadzi

Christian Hiadzi’s arresting figurative works explore emotional tension between representational portraiture and the beauty of unsettling abstract figures caught within the ordinary. Christian Hiadzi s a Ghanaian-British self-taught artist, and a professionally trained architect. His work is a fusion inspired by visual fragments from growing up in Ghana and current life in the UK. Interlaced with material from social media, photographs, drawings, dreams, magazines, deep personal aspirations, and other sources. At the core of his practice is the passion and drive to create work that in itself, becomes a catalyst to challenge and enhance the viewer’s imagination. Using acrylic, sometimes oil and charcoal, his work oscillates between almost dark monochromatic figures and colourful forms, executed using brushes and palette knifes. He sees himself as constantly evolving as a person, and this is manifested in his varying work. His work is exhibited and collected internationally.
