Shaina Craft creates figurative oil paintings and works on paper that explore the complicated relationship we have with our physical selves. From masked portraits to expansive figurative landscapes, her work offers an honest, unglamorous view of the human form.
Originally from Philadelphia, Shaina now lives and works in London, UK. Her work is collected internationally and has been shown in museums and galleries across the United States including The Pennsylvania State Museum, The Untitled Space NYC, and The Masur Museum of Art, as well as Abend Gallery in Denver. Shaina’s work has been recognized by publications such as Juxtapoz, Hi Fructose, and she was named Ambassador of the Week in Realism Today.
In 2022, Shaina’s work will head to the moon on Astrobotic’s Peregrine Lunar Lander as part of the Peregrine Collection. Made up of works from over 1200 creatives (and one AI), the Peregrine Collection is among the most diverse collections of cultural work assembled for launch into space and is believed to be the first project to place the work of women artists on the Moon. In 2020, Shaina’s painting won 3rd prize at ShockBoxx Gallery’s Intergalactic Open II. Shaina's work was included in the inaugural exhibition at the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, curated by Alyssa Monks, and she also received the Blick/InLiquid Microgrant for her series of Petite Paintings. Shaina graduated with an MFA in painting from The New York Academy of Art in 2015 and a BFA in painting from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2011. She is now a 2021-22 artist in residence at The Sarabande Foundation established by Lee Alexander McQueen.
