Lucy Jagger is a London based painter who creates social commentary paintings, her latest series focuses on the subject of county lines drug activities and inequality of opportunity. Her work follows a tradition of narrative painting but addresses contemporary concerns. Her aim is to elevate low status issues to high art and raise awareness of these themes with new audiences.
While at the Sarabande Jagger would like to explore the decline of politics and the rise of law to fill the void, the seeming increase in protest and how protesters amplify a message and make change happen.
"I'd like to record and capture people at their most energised and hopefully create work, which in and of itself, is a call to do, or even consider doing just one thing in more thoughtful way. I'm excited about how messages can be amplified, lost and overlaid and would like to explore this idea using a range of technology and materials.
