Sarabande was proud to present ‘One English Pound’, an exhibition by artist-in-residence Michaela Yearwood-Dan and her first solo show at the Foundation.

The exhibition featured both oil paintings and collage works, including pieces that have never been seen before and those from her celebrated ‘Love Letters to Siri’ series. Reaching into places of vulnerability, the works are predominately fuelled by nostalgia, poetry and personal diary accounts. Exploring themes of global confusion, hate, loss and love through a botanical abstract setting, the works relate to pivotal moments in the artist's life while combating ideas of femininity and nature.

Over the past six months Michaela Yearwood-Dan has exhibited in the '21st Century Women' exhibition at Unit London in Mayfair, was featured in the Harper’s Bazaar art supplement for Frieze and has appeared and organised several panel discussions at Sarabande Foundation including 'Art Moments' with Caroline Hussey-Bain. In February Yearwood-Dan will travel to Johannesburg for the acclaimed ‘Future Assembly’ residency and then start preparing to exhibit at Lagos Biennal II, in October 2019.
