George Richardson's work sits as comfortably on the mantelpiece in your front room as it would in the Snooker Club where these works are rooted. Glinting textured brass in amusingly amorphous shapes sit proudly wherever you choose to display. Richardson’s solid brass snooker chalks automatically strike a reaction, making for a wonderful conversation starter sitting center stage on your coffee table. This work is typical of Richardson’s practice, who subverts iconic objects borrowed from British culture. Collected from Cousins Snooker Club in London, they tell a story of temporality and human touch. Their names pay homage to locals of Cousin’s who have passed in the recent year, Demetrius, Victor, Eleanor, Frank, and Colin. Each engraved with George’s signature and their own box lined with tournament grade snooker felt. Each chalk is only cast eight times.
Daniel the Gardener's work offers a way to bring the outside in and enliven and brighten any space. Botanical illustrations and verdant colour pallets gracefully stretch across canvases and your walls as they transform the room. Daniel not only works on canvas but extends his practice onto the skin, using his paintings to inform his tattoos he embarks on transformative adventures to shape his practice. Through this he enriches his understanding of the intricate relationships between humans and nature. These encounters bring deep insight, allowing him to create works on both skin and canvas that go beyond the surface of stereotypical contemporary botanical illustrations.
Emmely Elgersma’s functional sculptures are an exploration of what objects mean to us as humans. Elgersma’s work infuses spaces with an unfiltered joy, effortlessly creating a statement. Material is combined with functionality to not only practically light the area but to bring a sparkling vibrancy to the room. With a playful approach to materiality in paper mâché and bright paint, she utilises found objects and recreates household items with a rough thickened surface finish.
