Cherry Song

Cherry Song (b.2000) is a Chinese artist working at the intersection of art and science. Song’s practice explores themes from technology to nature, philosophy to religion, fundamental physical and metaphorical elements taken from ancient wisdom. Her practice is undergoing a constant metamorphosis, where stimulating chaotic thoughts enrich her practice with interconnected concepts and understandings. She imagines the ‘functioning’ worlds or systems with each work, weaves fiction and science, and how idiosyncrasies engage with the fantastical. She often collaborates with other life forms in her practice, in which they have their own freedom and consciousness for their own chosen direction. She graduated from the Slade School of Art in 2022 and received the Clarendon scholarship to continue her research at Oxford University in 2023. She has been featured in: NOW 2022, at the Gerlard Moore gallery ; Melancholia: commissioned by the Freud museum x UCL’s Psychosis Unit ; shortlisted for NewContemporaries 2024 and more.
