Matthew Needham is hosting his first solo exhibition at the Sarabande Foundation entitled ‘The Anthropologist.’ Best known for his contributions towards sustainability within the British fashion industry, he is now inviting both new and existing audiences to experience his upcycled works through the lens of a collector.

This body of work marks a new chapter in Needham’s career as he presents an immersive experience with scent, sight and sound. Fifteen upcycled artworks will explore our relationship with the sub-natural world and unconscious connection to what he describes as ‘The Human Residuum’ . Utilising fly-tipped windows, post-consumer clothing, and elements found in nature, he will present these objects as artefacts of our time.

‘And having raised humanity above the beastly level of survival struggles, we will now aim to upgrade humans into gods, and turn Homo sapiens into Humo deus.’ Harari, Y.N. (2015).
