Inspiration Series | Women In Art
22 October 2018
Let's face it, women in art is a topic that needs some attention.
With gender income gaps for artists reaching up to 80% in the UK (needless to say in the male favour) and with women contributing to between only 2 and 7 percent of the art on the walls of most major museums, there's a huge and undeserved void in the art market. Doing something about it, curators Fru Tholstrup and Jane Neal have been shaking up the art scene in a powerful exhibition of emerging and established British female artists at Unit London, featuring the likes of Sarabande artist-in-residence, Michaela Yearwood-Dan, Maggi Hambling, Jenny Saville, Helen Beard, and Chantal Joffeffe.
Fru and Jane, joined by featured artists, Michaela and Helen, as well as Matt Carey-Williams, senior director of sales at Victoria Miro. Together, discuss the exhibition whilst participating in the much-needed discussion surrounding women's representation in art.
