Kicking off our October events and hailing from Brazil, we were so honoured to announce jeweller Silvia Furmanovich will be speaking at the foundation.
Silvia was nominated by Annabel Davidson for her dedication to artisanal craftsmanship and grew up watching her goldsmith father at work in the atelier installed in her family’s Sao Paolo home, but her jewellery heritage goes back further than that; her Italian great-grandfather was a jeweller for the Vatican. This Brazilian designer first opened her own atelier 20 years ago and, despite a global, cult following, has steadfastly refused to sacrifice the one-of-a-kind nature of her designs to commercialism. This was a fascinating insight into Silvia's work and story.
