Casa Cobre centers on a narrative rooted in California, where Ilan Pozeilov was raised, a land once part of Mexico. 

The project reflects on inheritance, belonging, preservation, and cultural memory. Inspired by photographs taken by Ilan's father in his early twenties throughout Mexico, the exhibition imagines the discovery of Casa Cobre, a fictional archaeological site in Alta California where generations of a family were buried with garments, tools, and ceremonial objects.

Using copper, wool, silk, mohair, horsehair, human hair, cochineal, and indigo, the collection reconstructs fragments of their lives through weaving, tailoring, and material experimentation. The preserved garments become vessels carrying memory across generations.

The exhibition treats garments, objects, photographs, and textiles as archaeological artefacts. Rather than presenting a finished fashion collection alone, Casa Cobre constructs an environment through which visitors encounter preservation as a form of storytelling and making as a means of carrying memory across generations.
