Foodbanks & Aslyum Seekers | Hannah Norton captures underrepresented voices

Hannah Norton is a documentary portrait photographer who works with individuals and grassroot community organisations that have been under and/or misrepresented in the mainstream media. Through long term engagement and collaborative processes, Hannah finds visual language that disrupts stereotypes and informs new ways of thinking.

“I feed off the person and I want the picture to feel authentic to them.”

With Photo London this week, we caught up with Hannah in her studio to go over some of her recent projects and her practice as a whole.

Some more examples of Hannah's work (The first image is from a recent commission by Kingswood Arts to photograph residents on Kingswood Estate, taken outside of the local Tottenham community centre. And for the second image, Hannah captured Mia, side eying her sister as she waits for dance class to start)
