Bound - An Artwork In Itself!

Bound - An Artwork In Itself!

Bound presents a unique opportunity to be the potential owner to an original artwork by one of 36 incredible artists featured in this exclusive collection. Bound is a beautifully hand-crafted book that brings together artworks from over 30 of our talented artists. With only 100 made, this book is a rare collectible.

This limited edition book gives you the chance to experience the quality and craft that Sarabande represents. These books have been meticulously hand bound, and wrapped in hand-embroidered linen, adding a personal touch and further connecting you to the artists themselves.

From painters like Karimah Hassan, to designers like John Alexander Skelton, and Jewellers like Christopher Thompson Royds - Bound gives you the opportunity to support their talents, whilst also giving you the chance to own a one-of-a-kind piece of work.

Bound challenges the idea of a traditional art book. It hasn't been created to sit on a shelf and never be opened. Instead it is there to be engaged with. The paper has been tended to in many varying ways, it has been embroidered, sculpted, dyed, painted, embossed and more. The works are meant to be explored, and tended to in return.

"We challenged our artists to think outside their usual practice and present themselves in an unexpected way. The result is spellbinding - the completed artworks are entirely unique, both within the world of art and within each artist’s distinctive body of work. "

There are a large range of original artworks that can be received, all using varying approaches and processes. For example Alice Von Maltzahn who with specialist papers as her primary medium, her work examines temporality, the environment, our place within it and the traces we leave behind. These painstakingly detailed cut-outs compel us to re-examine our relationship with materiality, nature, growth and decay.

There is also a chance to own an original artwork by painter Karimah Hassan. Karimah's artistic practice investigates the intersection of cultural memory and spiritual consciousness through large-scale paintings and installations. For Bound, her bold, expressive aesthetic was translated onto paper.

In contrast to works like Alice and Karimah, Bound also offers the opportunity to own works from a diverse range of artists. Asking creatives to translate their practice into paper led to an interesting variety of results.

For instance Jeweller, Christopher Thompson Royds, whose known for his delicate metal sculptures of flowers - intricate and fragile had to adapt his practice in a different way. For Bound, Christopher translated his metal and sculpture practice into making woven paper pop-ups that emerge through the binding, adding a tactile element to the book.

"Bringing together fearless creativity and some of the world’s finest papers, BOUND is a collector’s item bursting with art."

Trino Verkade, CEO of Sarabande
