As we celebrate International Women's Day, we're thrilled to spotlight a few of the incredible female artists whose work graces the shelves and rails of House of Bandits. From powerful photographs to intricate ceramics, each of the works tells a unique story and reflects the diverse talents of women in the art world. 

Michelle Marshall, The Blue Woman  

 Michelle Marshall is a French photographer based in London, her practice revolves around portraiture with assignments ranging from commercial contracts, fashion editorials to private commissions and self-initiated/personal projects. She is driven by the self-reflecting process afforded by interacting with others through photography. Marshall is inquisitive, using the camera to engage in creative shared experiences widening her perspective of the world she navigates.

Camilla Hanney, Flower Pot

Camilla Hanney, is an Irish artist who provides a voice for fragments of the past that have, over time, become embedded and lost in history. These traces of a former presence help root our memories in an active present rather than a passive past.

In 2014 and 2015 her work was selected for showcasing at RDS student art awards exhibition in Dublin. She was the recipient of the Ormond Studios Recent Graduate Award in 2015, which culminated in a solo show.

Renata Brenha, Baiana Skirt

 Renata Brenha is a London-based Brazilian womenswear designer with an MA in Fashion from the Royal College of Art. She stands as a Latin American female voice in the context of contemporary fashion, researching artisanal techniques and intuitive methods to regain the human aspect in design, with the largely mixed Latin America culture defining both her aesthetics and approach.

Brenha’s textiles are mainly developed in-house, through artisanal tech­niques and carefully chosen materials that would otherwise be considered as waste. Her eponymous label has the aspiration to push sustainable methods and craftsmanship to develop a new creative practice able to face the collective challenges of our times.

Martina Kocianova, Perfume Bottle Pendant

Martina Kocianova uses a diverse array of techniques in her craft, including gem carving, hand engraving, and stone setting. Her innovative design approach extends to incorporating mushroom mycelium into jewellery and it’s environment. From foraging mushrooms to cultivating mycelium, Martina intricately incorporates these elements into her creations, blurring the boundaries between nature and art. 

Martina has graduated from BA Jewellery design at Central Saint Martina, followed by studies in traditional Japanese jewellery craft in Tokyo. Martina’s unique and vibrant portrayal of mushrooms has earned her numerous awards, resulting in her last exhibition at London Craft Week.

Hannah Norton, Mother and Daughter

Hannah Norton is a documentary portrait photographer, she works with individuals and grassroot community organisations that have been under and/or misrepresented in the mainstream media. Through long term engagement and collaborative processes, she finds visual language that disrupts stereotypes and informs new ways of thinking. Norton also works editorially for arts and culture magazines taking portraits of artists, actors, and musicians. Her clients include The Financial Times, BBC and Saatchi & Saatchi amongst others.
