Artist Crits with Jo Grogan & Bex Massey

Artist Crits with Jo Grogan & Bex Massey

Not sure what medium to experiment with next? Want to fine tune how you talk about your work? Our Artist Crits present a unique opportunity to connect with fellow creatives, sharing insights and perspectives about your creative endeavours in a supportive, enriching environment.

Last week, our beloved artist crits returned to Sarabande High Road with a session led by our artists in residence Jo Grogan and Bex Massey.

With a background in fashion design and woodcarving, Jo Grogan creates unique and sustainable pieces working across multiple materials, from the drawing, modelling and carving stages.

British painter Bex Massey examines the role of painting in the face of popular culture. Her practice deeply engages with the codes and history of queer culture.

A dozen artists, including Jennifer Jones, also a resident at Sarabande, joined us to share their thoughts and insights into their creative practices.

“I had a really good experience at the crit on Friday with Bex and Jo. It was really nice to convene with them and other artists to present where we were at, with our own reasons, and in a comfortable space”
