Joy Bonfield Colombara

Joy BC is a goldsmith and sculptress whose practice both honors and deconstructs classical representations of femininity, mythology, and beauty. Her work is rich in narrative, blending wearable art with miniature sculpture to explore themes of deconstruction and reconstruction.
Fragments are a recurring motif in her practice, informed by Greco-Roman antiquity, global mythologies, and the concepts of ruin-lust and kintsugi. Central to her work are noble-metal techniques, lost-wax casting, hand-carving, miniature portraiture, and a decade of research into tears.
Joy’s pieces are included in multiple museum collections and have been exhibited at prestigious events including Design Miami, PAD, Goldsmiths’ Fair, Les Enluminures, and Wartski’s exhibition, The Brooch. Her work emphasises jewellery’s capacity to engage both the senses and the emotions of the wearer, celebrating beauty as an experience beyond mere visual appearance.
