Furmaan Ahmed

Furmaan Ahmed is a Scottish artist living and working in London. Through set design, photography and film, Ahmed explores decadence, theatricality and diasporic memories. Furmaan creates dream-like documentary work through highly staged photographs often including large casts and props in remote landscapes. Using folklore as architecture of an imagined world, Furmaan crafts images that explore the loss of ancestral thought forms, matriarchal societies and trans archeology in the face of modern nationalism and capitalism. Rooted in the experience of being a South Asian trans artist, Furmaan seeks to reimagine cultural iconography and a rapidly changing natural landscape.

Furmaan was the recipient of the Robertson Trust Scholarship (2018), British Fashion Awards New Wave Creative (2021) and part of Dazed MENA’s 100 List (2025). They have shown work in the ICA, The Serpentine Gallery and extensively across Fashion, TV and Music.
