Amelia Cross
Amelia Cross is an artist whose practice bridges painting, pattern-cutting, and sewing. Following an early career in tailoring and womenswear design, Amelia investigates how garments shape identity and social systems, merging the craft of pattern- cutting with painting to create her signature ‘sewn paintings’—works that occupy the space between the painterly and the sculptural. Drawing on clothing from her personal archive, each piece offers potential confessions, at times dark, at times humorous, reflecting on life’s uniforms and the ways clothing mediates presence and authority. Amelia earned her BA in Bespoke Tailoring from London College of Fashion (2016) and her MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art (2025).
