Workshop: 'Trompe-l’ œil Pocket-making ' with Amelia Cross
Workshop: 'Trompe-l’ œil Pocket-making ' with Amelia Cross
Rooted in Amelia Cross's practice of ‘sewn paintings’, the workshop considers the pocket as both practical structure and personal space. The session begins with a short introduction to her work and a demonstration of pocket construction and will explore the relationship between function, intimacy, and memory through textile. Often hidden yet deeply familiar, pockets hold the items that accompany our daily lives.
Each participant will then hand-sew a linen pocket onto their fabric, creating a soft space to contain, conceal, or frame their chosen object. Together, we will reflect on what it means to hold something close, and how memory can be stitched into cloth.
