John Skelton presents XVI Collection, Harmonising Fashion and Music Amidst Gothic Grandeur

Sarabande scholar and designer-in-residence, John Alexander Skelton, presents his collection XVI amongst the 12th-Century Romanesque arches and Gothic revival tombs at the church of St Bartholomew-the-GreatThe collection is inspired by the British music collective, This Mortal Coil:

"This collective's albums have coloured my daily life, the music transports one sonically into an ethereal landscape that invigorates and rouses the senses."

Rather than drawing from the album covers, John's inspiration for the collection came purely from his emotional reaction to the music. This approach led to a collection that embodies the intangible qualities of the music - its mood, atmosphere, and essence - transformed into wearable art. Each piece in the collection is a testament to the power of music to move and inspire, showcasing how a designer can translate auditory sensations into tangible, creative expressions.
