Hollow Road at Sarabande: The Exhibition by Robert George Sanders
31 MAY
10:00 - 18:00
The current pandemic forced artists Robert George Sanders and Harry Evans to reconsider their process and creative purpose in a new context. Split into seasonal chapters which draw influence from pagan festivals in lieu of the Fashion Week calendar, Hollow Road at Sarabande presents a final cut of performances from the Kent countryside. Captured throughout the lockdown year in a curated environment with foraged artefacts.
Both trained and previously working as fashion designers, Robert and Harry's films are a twist on the familiar catwalk format. Stripped of the gaze of a Fashion Week audience, the figures trip, run, stride, stumble and fall, watched silently by onlooking rows of wheat. Shying away from the creative demands of a bi-annual turnover. they perform to the cycle of the seasons: birth, growth, harvest, rest.
