Dean JF Hoy presents: 'The Vigil'
BOOK NOW
Soft toys—an omnipresent symbol of pure love that conserves, protects, and anchors the human spirit. They absorb and witness all sides of us, from the kind to the cruel. As I gaze at mine, I wonder: do they know the power they wield? Do you take a moment to treasure yours?
Dean JF Hoy invites audiences to The Vigil, where the 'Bears Who Care' pay tribute to Julien, a soft sculpture left at the roadside in Tennessee. From the 14th to the 17th of November, attendees can witness the 'Bears Who Care' collection gathered for the first time. These 27 shaggy, nomadic, love-drenched soft sculptures, each with their own tale of abandonment, come together to offer a space for reflection on the emotions that tug at our heartstrings.
Hoy’s world begins with breathing new life into hand-me-down soft toys, remodeling and restuffing them with love. This collection of soft sculptures, their six-month search, and the candlelit vigil will mark the end of Dean JF Hoy’s residency at the Sarabande Foundation, where The Vigil will take place. Hoy’s creative community has contributed to the cause, and attendees are invited to donate to the children’s bereavement charity 'Holding on Letting Go', connecting Hoy’s fictional tale to the real world.
Private view drinks provided by Babycham.
Drinks across the presentation are kindly provided by Babycham, Dalstons Soda, Grind and Cano water.
