HIRING: Programme & Events at Sarabande

This role calls for a highly organised and proactive individual with excellent communication skills, a flair for storytelling and a broad understanding of the creative industries. We are looking for someone who is genuinely curious and passionate about Sarabande’s community, can identify opportunities for the Foundation and brings ideas to life from conception through to delivery.

The successful candidate will programme Sarabande’s public events, produce all of Sarabande’s internal and external events and manage artist exhibitions and events. The candidate needs to have excellent operational and organisational skills to plan, coordinate, produce and deliver Sarabande’s public programme across both of our sites, curating a dynamic year-round calendar of talks, workshops, exhibitions and events that engage artists, audiences and creative communities.

The ideal candidate will be adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously while balancing both short - and long-term goals. Working within a forward-thinking and dynamic organisation, the successful applicant will collaborate closely with Sarabande team members as well as external partners and stakeholders at all levels.

Please note that occasional evening and weekend work will be required, particularly during events.

Responsibilities

  • Curate, originate, manage and deliver Sarabande’s year-round programme of public events across both sites, including Inspired and Practical Talks, Artist Crits, workshops, exhibitions and special events, ensuring every event reflects the values and spirit of Sarabande.
  • Create and manage event listings across relevant platforms, crafting compelling copy and visual assets that reflect the Sarabande brand and drive maximum engagement and ticket sales.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen and evolve Sarabande’s public programme, developing new original ideas, partnerships and audiences that support the Foundation’s mission.
  • Develop strategic marketing campaigns across newsletters and social media to diversify and grow audience attendance.
  • Ensure exceptional quality control across every event, from concept development and production through to room layout, guest experience and post-event evaluation.
  • Ensure Sarabande’s event spaces and facilities are fully operational and compliant with Health & Safety regulations at all times.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with event stakeholders, including artists, galleries, cultural institutions, talent agencies, luxury fashion brands and other creative partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with artists, galleries, cultural institutions, educational partners and community organisations to broaden participation across Sarabande’s programmes.
  • Create and maintain accurate event documentation, including P&Ls, impact reports, audience insights, event photography and press coverage.
  • Manage budgets for events and outreach activities, ensuring the efficient use of resources.
  • Manage and deliver all drinks sponsors for events.
  • Support the Head of Special Projects with the production of external events when necessary.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience managing and delivering a diverse public events programme within a fast-paced creative or cultural organisation.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to ensure the high standards set by the existing event programme are maintained.
  • A conceptual and initiative thinker who can originate unique and creative ideas as well as execute them with operational rigour.
  • Excellent time management with the ability to work under pressure; punctual and reliable, able to manage workload and priorities effectively and independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Strong administrative, analytical and IT skills, able to build reports on relevant activities.
  • Commitment to Sarabande’s goals and objectives, and able to represent the Foundation during events and off-site.
  • A strong understanding of cultural trends across contemporary art, design and fashion.

Desirable

  • Some prior experience delivering events that widen engagement with the arts, increasing participation and inclusion.
