Introducing Juliet Dodson as our new MA Slade Scholar!
We are proud to announce Juliet Dodson as our MA Slade Scholar.
Juliet is an interdisciplinary artist whose work draws on sculpture, costume, painting, and performance to explore the fragility of bodies and the tension between concealment and exposure. Her practice is rooted in philosophical questions around evolution, death, failure, and bodily anxiety, brought to life through uncanny, hybrid forms.

Juliet creates sculptural objects that often defy functionality, like Anchored Descent, a lead-sewn harness tethered to a used parachute, echoing themes of weight, transformation, and restraint. Her work fuses elements of nature, talons, wings, skeletons, with the human body, creating forms that feel both protective and vulnerable.

In 2023, she was awarded the UK and Europe Designer Award at the World of WearableArt competition in New Zealand for her striking wearable sculpture Metamorphosis. Recent projects include performances and exhibitions at Southbank Centre (Quad, 2024), Warbling Collective (2025), Hypha Studios (2025), and costume work for a BFI/Kodak-funded production.

Juliet’s work reflects a practice in constant evolution, one that holds space for contradiction, resilience, and the uncanny. We’re thrilled to support her journey as she undertakes her MA at the Slade School of Fine Art.
