House of Bandits Favourites with Jermaine Gallacher

Jermaine Gallacher joined us in-store at our Selfridges pop-up to share his favourite pieces and how he would style them. Explore Jermaine's top picks. As Editor-in-Chief of Ton Magazine and a Vogue contributing editor, Jermaine is one of the hottest voices of interior design. Sat at your favourite wine bar, it’s likely you’ll be immersed in environments sculptured by Jermaine’s eye.

First up, Jermaine picked Sophie Lloyd's Trophy Head 2. This piece is made from sugar and therefore sensitive to its environment and any reactions taking place aligns with the intentions of the work.

Sophie Lloyd is a London based sculpture artist working with sugar and Isomalt, creating figures resembling stained glass. Her practice is led by properties of entertainment and media consumption to escape and numb oneself, re-imagining entertainment pre-cinema in a half-hearted rejection of modernism.

"It's the sort of thing I would put above my bed, or perhaps above a mirror. It's got a vibe. It's got a really good vibe."

Next up is Rachel Fleminger-Hudson's, Untitled. Rachel Fleminger Hudson is a photographer and filmmaker, who employs a multi-disciplinary approach to her practice spanning art direction, set design and costume. Drawing from both visual, material and academic research, she synthesizes the mediums of costume, still and moving image to study people and places.

"I really like the kind of 70s retro thing about it. I just think she’s got a really arresting face, and I can really imagine placing that in one of my interiors. I particularly like her nose, sort of, sculptural."

Adele Brydges, Diving for Pearls Plate, and, Heaux Plate also stood out to Jermaine. Adele Brydges is a ceramic designer and artist whose work sits at the intersection of sensuality, connection, and self-expression. These Handpainted, Glazed Terracotta plates would be the perfect addition to your interior.

"First of all, I love plates on the wall. I think they’re so cool. But these are so graphic and so beautiful. I love the shape of the hand and the color palette on both of these. I think it's really strong. I think they’re kind of cheeky."

A standout piece for Jermaine was, Koby Martin's, Can't Fire Me From My Gift III. Koby Martin's work is an introspective autobiographical exploration of his life, focusing on themes of family, migration, memory, and emotions. His work is shaped by his personal experience, a reflection of his Ghanian origins in relation to the Western and Contemporary practices of his craft.

"This painting, I would put in a project any day of the week. It would just take center stage in the room, it’s something that you just want to look at. The colours are beautiful. It’s timeless. It can sit with any kind of furniture."
