Inspiration Series | Tai Shani in conversation with Charlie Porter
20 FEBRUARY
19.00-21.00
The artist Tai Shani, co-winner of the 2019 Turner Prize, in conversation at Sarabande Foundation with Charlie Porter. Shani works in performance, installation, film, sculpture and the written word, recently completing the extraordinary five year project DC: Productions.
Shani’s starting point was the Book of the City of Ladies, a trailblazing French work from 1405 that imagines a town peopled entirely by notable women. From this, Shani created a parallel universe that should be this universe, focusing on gender, community, desire, the body and the utopian possibilities of a post-patriarchal society.
Charlie Porter has written for titles such as Financial Times, New York Times, The Guardian and i-D. His book What Artists Wear will soon be published by Penguin. He was a judge on the Turner Prize 2019.
Doors Open 7PM for cocktails from Ketel One.
Please arrive on time as the talk kicks off at 7.30PM on the dot!
