Martin Parr joined us at Sarabande to share his experience as one of Britain's most famed and commemorated documentary photographers.

Unmistakeably Parr, his often garish coloured and unusually composed works hold a mirror to the Brit, the subject of his major new exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. He uses criticism and seduction to provide a humorous commentary on the way we live, project ourselves to others and our what's important to us. Making us recognise our behavior and laugh at ourselves, Parr aims to counteract the influx of images distributed by the media, which he describes as "propaganda", by being unique, comedic and accessible.

Martin Parr is also the winner of numerous prestigious awards, including the Royal Academy Award presented for his Contribution to the Arts, the Sony World Photography Awards, Outstanding Contribution to Photography and most recently, the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year, Outstanding Achievement Award.

Works from his series 'Beach Therapy' and 'Remote Scottish Postboxes' were on view courtesy of Rocket gallery.
