Inspiration Series | Jonah Freeman and Justin Lowe in conversation with Oobah Butler
11 SEPTEMBER 2019
7.30PM-9.00PM
An exciting talk as part of Sarabande’s ‘Inspiration Series' with New York based artists, Freeman and Lowe.
Jonah Freeman and Justin Lowe have been collaborating since 2007, drawing on a series of historical and fictional narratives to create giant, maze-like architectural installations that reimagine dystopian visions, psychotic episodes and the workings of drug-related subcultures.
Equally powerful solo artists, as they are combined. Freeman's work has appeared in the Prague, Tirana, and Busan Biennials, MoMA PS1 and the Wexner Center for the Arts. Lowe featured in Art:21, Art-Agenda, MoMA PS1 in 2005's Greater New York and in a 2004 special project curated by Bob Nickas, Marlborough Contemporary New York .
The duo were in conversation with journalist, film-maker and writer Oobah Butler, best known for creating The Shed at Dulwich, a project he made for Vice Magazine where he made the shed he lived in the top-rated restaurant in London on TripAdvisor, despite having never served a dish.
