Botanical Life Drawing Class with Rebecca Jewell and Sandy Ross Skyes

Get ready for Rebecca Jewell, print-maker and collage artist and fine artist and sculptor Sandy Ross Skyes to introduce you to the concepts of line, tone, composition and mark making.

Rebecca, with a PhD and over twenty years  experience of teaching drawing classes and workshops, is a faculty member of the Royal Drawing School,  and has taught at the British Museum, the Natural History Museum, the National Gallery and the Linnean Society. With fellow artist Sandy, who gained an MA from the Royal College of Art before spending many years training as a Botanical Artist, they set up Drawn from Nature workshops . Together, they run pop-up art classes teaching botanical painting, and nature drawing. 

Sandy's awards include The Linnean Society 2007 Fellowship, RHS 2006 and Silver Gilt Medal and her collection of work based on the rainforests of Borneo were exhibited at the Shirley Sherwood Art Gallery in Royal Botanic Gardens Kew (RBGK).

Rebecca’s work is held in the British Museum, the Natural History Museum, the British Library, the Cambridge Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and the National Maritime Museum, as well as in many private collections. Her awards include; 2018 Honorary Mention for Experimental Printmaking, Miniprint Kazanlak, 2012 Highly Commended Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize, The Campaign for Drawing Trailblazer Award for 'Drawing a Roman Legion' workshop at the British Museum, 2005 Leverhulme Artist in Residence Award and 2001 KPMG Travel Award, to name a few.

We will provide a range of media for the class, but feel free to bring your own  favourite materials with you for more variety.
