BA Textiles
Always keen to experiment, Rebecca often begins her development process by drawing with her eyes closed or by holding the paintbrush in her mouth or feet in order to create new and unpredictable lines and markings. Rebecca’s work encompasses multimedia textiles, artwork, and creative writing. Key sources of inspiration for Rebecca include nature, emotion, light and textural references. Within her textiles work, she has a particular interest in surface. Drawn to moss, lichen, stone, wood and rust, amongst others, she uses these as inspiration for drawings, prints and garments. Threads of metaphor run through Rebecca’s work, and serve as an integral part of her concept development and artistic expression. She especially enjoys exploring parallels between the natural world and the human condition. Rebecca describes herself as an open-minded artist, and she was chosen for the scholarship by stylist Katy England.
