Natasha Burton

Natasha Burton is a sculptor whose artistic practice is informed by African mythology. For the Slade MFA degree show, Natasha made an installation named: “The Republic of Congo Past and Present: The Legacy of Slavery, Imperialism, Colonialism and Neo-Colonialism.”  as well as a film of the mountain range from the installation that was played continuously throughout the show. Natasha wanted to show her connection to her cultural roots in Africa and wanted to highlight the repercussions of colonialism and the effects in present-day Congo.
